Your Insurer, FCE Bank plc, Ford Motor Company Limited and Europa Group Limited, as data controllers, are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. This policy explains how we use the information collected about you and what security measures are in place to protect your information.

By submitting any information about you and, where applicable, others within this Website, you and they consent to its use as set out in this Privacy Policy. If you provide us with information about another person, you confirm that they have appointed you to act for them, to consent to the processing of their personal data and that you have informed them of our identity and the purposes for which their personal data will be processed.


The Internet is not a secure medium. However, we are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. We capture your personal information, such as your name and address, telephone number and credit card details over a secure link using recognised industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology which encrypts the data whilst passing it over the internet. This will be indicated on most browsers by a lock in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. Firewalls are used to block unauthorised traffic to the servers and the actual servers are locked in a secure location which can only be accessed by authorised personnel.

What we do with the information we collect from you

When you request a quotation or buy Motor insurance from us, we need to know your name, address and other relevant personal and factual information. This enables us to issue quotations and insurance, and undertake policy administration for example, deal with a claim, statistical analysis and underwriting a policy. This information is then used by the Ford group of companies, your Insurer, Europa Group Limited and their contracted suppliers to communicate with you on any matter relating to your Motor insurance.

Our website also uses a website recording service which records mouse clicks, mouse movements, page scrolling and any text keyed into website forms. Data collected by this service is used to improve our website usability. The information collected is stored and is used for aggregated and statistical reporting, and is not shared with anybody else.

How we use your data

Your Insurer as will be named in your Statement of Facts, FCE Bank plc, Ford Motor Company and Europa Group Limited will use the information collected about you (which may include some sensitive data) and anyone you chose to include in your policy, to arrange, underwrite and administer your Ford Insure Motor Insurance policy.

Your information may be disclosed to the parent, subsidiary or associated companies of FCE Bank plc, Ford Motor Company Limited, your Insurer, Europa Group Limited, any agencies, contractors or companies providing services for your benefit and any assignees, transferees or replacements of the above referred parties. Your information (excluding sensitive data) may also be disclosed to other insurers for the purpose of market research and analysis including for use in assessing prospective participation of those insurers on the panel of Ford Insure underwriters.

The information held about you may also be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and by submitting your information you agree to such a transfer. Measures will be put in place to protect your data and these safeguards shall be no less stringent than the requirements of English law. Please ensure that where you have provided the personal information of others, that you have their consent, and that you have made them aware of this notice and the use of their information.

Sensitive Data

In order to assess the terms of the insurance contract or administer claims which arise, we may need to collect data about you or others which the Data Protection Act defines as sensitive (such as medical history or criminal convictions). By proceeding with this insurance, you signify your consent to such information being processed and shared by FCE Bank plc, your insurer, Europa Group Limited, and Ford Motor Company Limited and their agents. Please ensure that you only provide us with sensitive information about other people with their agreement.

Motor Insurance Database

Information relating to your insurance policy will be added to the Motor Insurance Database ("MID") managed by the Motor Insurers' Bureau ("MIB"). MID and the data stored on it may be used by certain statutory and/or authorised bodies including the Police, the DVLA, the DVA (Northern Ireland), the Insurance Fraud Bureau and other bodies permitted by law for purposes not limited to but including:

I. Electronic Licensing

II. Continuous Insurance Enforcement;

III. Law enforcement (prevention, detection, apprehension and or prosecution of offenders)

IV. The provision of government services and or other services aimed at reducing the level and incidence of uninsured driving.

If you are involved in a road traffic accident (either in the UK, the EEA or certain other territories), insurers and/or the MIB may search the MID to obtain relevant information. Persons (including his or her appointed representatives) pursuing a claim in respect of a road traffic accident (including citizens of other countries) may also obtain relevant information which is held on the MID.

It is vital that the MID holds your correct registration number. If it is incorrectly shown on the MID you are at risk of having your vehicle seized by the Police. You can check that your correct registration number details are shown on the MID at You should also show these notices to anyone insured to drive under this policy.

Fraud Prevention, Detection and Claims History

In order to detect or prevent fraud your insurer and Europa Group Limited may at any time:

  • Pass your details to Insurance Hunter, a central insurance application and claims checking system, whereby it may be checked against information held by Insurance Hunter and shared with other insurers
  • Check your details with fraud prevention agencies and if you give us false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud we will record this and share it with other agencies If false or inaccurate information is provided and fraud is identified, details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies.
  • Law enforcement agencies may access and use this information.
  • We and other organisations may also access and use this information to prevent fraud and money laundering, for example, when:
  • Checking details on applications for credit and credit related or other facilities
  • Managing credit and credit related accounts or facilities
  • Recovering debt
  • Checking details on proposals and claims for all types of insurance
  • Checking details of job applicants and employees

We and other organisations may access and use from other countries the information recorded by fraud prevention agencies.

Insurers pass information to the Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register, run by Insurance Database Services Ltd (IDS Ltd) and the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register, run by the Association of British Insurers (ABI). The aim is to help us check information provided and also to prevent fraudulent claims. We may at any time search these registers, including when you apply for insurance, in the event of any incident or claim, or at time of renewal to validate your claims history or that of any other person or property likely to be involved in the policy or claim. Under the conditions of your policy, you must tell us about any incident (such as an accident, fire, theft or malicious damage) which may or may not give rise to a claim. When you tell us about an incident, we will pass information relating to it to the registers.

When you tell us about an incident we will pass information relating to it to the database. We can supply more information on the database if you request it. You should show this notice to anyone who has an interest in property insured under this policy.

Your insurer may seek information from other insurers and information agencies to check the information you may have supplied and may provide the information you have supplied to other insurers for the same purpose.
